Development Timeline
- The Faculty of Pharmacy was established as an independent faculty in 1994, following the accreditation of the Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) program.
- In 2003, the Master’s program in Clinical Pharmacy was officially approved.
- At the beginning of the 2007 academic year, the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program was introduced, marking a significant step in enhancing clinical pharmaceutical education.
- In 2012, the faculty received approval to offer the Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences program.
- As part of the university’s strategic restructuring plan, the Faculty of Pharmacy was merged in 2011 into the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences as one of its main academic departments.
- The faculty is equipped with all the essential educational and research laboratories, including those for pharmaceutics, pharmaceutical technology, pharmacognosy, medicinal chemistry, and drug synthesis.
- Faculty members oversee professional pharmaceutical training during the students’ final academic year, which includes placements in community pharmacies, hospitals, and pharmaceutical manufacturing companies.
- Courses are delivered by highly qualified professors holding advanced degrees from internationally recognized universities. These faculty members belong to the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and bring expertise across a wide range of medical and pharmaceutical disciplines.
- The faculty emphasizes both curricular and extracurricular student activities aimed at developing students’ talents, cultural awareness, and leadership abilities.
- In the 2020 academic year, the faculty introduced a Bachelor's program in Cosmetics and Skincare, recognizing the growing significance of this field in healthcare and wellness.
- Students are also required to conduct and present graduation research projects, which are evaluated in academic panels comprising faculty members and graduating students.
- Faculty members are highly engaged in pharmaceutical research, publishing numerous peer-reviewed articles in reputable scientific journals.
- In the 2024 academic year, the Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences program was accredited, making it the first doctoral program of its kind in Palestine.
- At the beginning of 2025, and in line with the university’s updated structural policy, the Pharmacy Department was separated from the Faculty of Medicine and Allied Medical Sciences and re-established as an independent Faculty of Pharmacy.
